YMCA Boxing Club

This past year has been another successful 12 months for Cardiff YMCA Boxing Club. We have seen an increase in the number of new male and female members joining the club; particularly in the junior section and from the local gypsy and travelling communities. Current members come from all areas of Cardiff, as the central location offers easy access by car, public transport or by foot or bicycle (if you are serious about keeping fit, and are worried about your carbon footprint!)

As in past years, a number of club members have competed in local, regional and national competitions. We are delighted to be able to highlight some of their successes in this report:

Simon Reever (18yrs) who reached the final of the Welsh Championships at 60kg

Matthew Salter (18yrs) who reached the final of the Welsh Championships at 69 kg

Milad Milah (18yrs) who reached the semi-final of the Welsh Championships at 57 kg

Tony Price (16yrs) who reached the semi-final of the Welsh Championships at 67 kg

Pallington Price (13yrs) who became Welsh Champion at 50 kg, and also reached the finals of the British Championships.

Our congratulations go to all of them; and also to every member of the club who took part in competitions this year. Many of the club members have shown great potential during the last 12 months, and we look forward to being able to highlight even more achievements and successes next year.

As always, the club is open to members of all ages and abilities. The club offers a warm, friendly and relaxed environment in which to train. Whether you are an experienced boxer; would like to learn a new sport; or want to come along and use the facilities as an effective and enjoyable way of keeping fit, we have something to offer everyone. The club is run entirely by volunteers, and would not be possible without their commitment and support.

The Club meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. in the Gymnasium at Cardiff YMCA, The Walk, Roath, Cardiff. CF24 3AG.

We are happy to welcome any new members to come along on any of these evenings, have a chat, look at the facilities that are available, and to see what the club can offer.
