Lisvane Cricket Club have a new home ground!

Cardiff YMCA and Lisvane Cricket Club are working in partnership to develop a new cricket facility in St. Mellons.

Ambitious plans to renovate the once beautiful but recently unused YMCA cricket ground, in St. Mellons are well under way.

In conjunction with the ECB, Nat West Cricket Force (the largest volunteer programme in British sport), local businesses and the local community, the club and Cardiff YMCA are working hard to provide a facility to be proud of.

Nat West Cricket Force is an initiative designed to support clubs wanting to improve facilities at their grounds. Lisvane Cricket Club was picked by Nat West Cricket Force because of its commitment to building youth cricket and its links to a wide local community. The club has an extremely active and successful youth section, with over 150 members. The youth teams compete in all age sections, and now have a girls team as well.

The nationwide scheme is expected to attract over 85,000 volunteers, and will result in £35m-£40m of value in kind work being undertaken at cricket clubs across the country. Lisvane CC has also been chosen by the ECB as one of the five nationwide showcase clubs for 2008.

This will be a fantastic new cricket ground that will provide Lisvane Cricket Club with their own home ground for the first time in their history, and give the opportunity for many more people to join this thriving club and enjoy playing cricket.
